Ranui Action Project are a community development funder and facilitator based in Waitakere, West Auckland. Their goal is to bring together the Ranui community, Waitakere City Council, government agencies and volunteer groups, to improve health and wellbeing in Ranui, through projects such as the Ranui Community Garden, local business groups, New Migrant and Refugees group and more. The identity had to positively refelect the ethnic and cultural diversity of the local community, and communicate directly to people from that community (in historically one of Auckland's most economically deprived areas) as well as to local businesses and government bodies. The solution was a vibrant, energetic new logomark, combining Maori and non-Maori visual references, incorporated into a colourful and positive identity system. A series of collateral templates were designed to allow Ranui Action Project staff to create and update flyers, posters and newsletters inhouse without compromising the new look and feel of the identity. The identity was also applied across printed brochures and to a new content-manageable website for the project.
